A Question?
Dec. 17th, 2007 09:49 pmHere's a question for you all (as originally asked here at Making Light where it caught my attention), what is the earliest major news event that you can remember?
The earliest news item I can recall would be either seeing the the first Space Shuttle travelling on the back of an adapted 747 on the news or Margaret Thatcher winning the 1979 General Election. These would have been about 1979/80 (definitely '79 for the election) which would fit the trend that seems to have been emerging in the Making Light comments thread. A lot of the people's first memories tend to have been from about the age of 6. More personal memories are usually earlier than that but for news events it does seem that 6 is the age we become aware of the outside world that bit more.
So I have to ask, What age was your earliest news memory?
