What Firefly Character Are You?

Inara Serra
You live in a world of sensuality and spirituality. You are skilled at manipulating those around you, but you do not use this talent for ill. Despite this skill with the emotions of others, you seem rather inept with your own feelings, and often attempt to pretend they simply aren't there.

Job Quiz

Knowing the acuracy (or not) of web based quizes, I take this with a small pinch of salt but it's still not good,

Your Job Dissatisfaction Level is 61%

Your job is a total bummer, and probably the worst job you've ever had.
Your co-workers stink. Your boss is a jerk. And your company is probably in trouble.
Think about finding a new job quickly, even if it's just a not-so-great transition job.
You've got to get out of there as quickly as you can!

The only parts of that, that I definitly disagree with is the bit about my co-workers who have very good personal hygene (except for one or two in another department, no names but it moves items from place A to place B) and my boss isn't that bad (most of the time). Don't think I'll go for the not-so-great transition job since I'm still in the last one of those I took!

Anyone want to offer me a job? Please?

Ok, I'm really starting to worry about the gender issues these super hero quiz's are thowing up. First Psylocke (although the picture has now changed to Cyclops for some reson?) and now this!

Supergirl is a pretty good result. You don't get to be much more powerful than her (even if she isn't really one of the cool, edgy characters) but it would be nice to come out of one of these with a male character one time. Although, on the upside, I guess it does mean that I am in touch with my feminine side, which is a good thing, right?

Right, so if I change my answer regarding the length of my hair (and only that one) then I come out as

Hmm, I guess that I am going to have to cut my hair sometime soon then. Just when I had got it too a good length too :(

Oh yeah, quiz found at Andy's.

I don't know who wrote this quiz but they really can't spell for toffee. Their quiz is great (I like the idea of being a dragon) but their spelling is awful.

Some of these quiz's tend to be a bit vague or give a 'near-enough' answer but this one is spot on.

Your 2005 Song Is

Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely busy devotee this year.

In July, I rammed a ship into you (sorry Cthulhu!) (-1000 points). In March, I stopped [info]bwinter from defiling Lovecraft's grave (-20 points). When the stars were right, I rescued [info]bwinter from being sacrificed (-200 points). In September, I recruited [info]trixie_chick as a new cultist (30 points). In January, I exposed [info]graceunplugged to soul-rending horrors (250 points). In November, I called down the wrath of Yog-Sothoth upon [info]astarise (65 points).

In short, I have been very bad (-875 points) and deserve to have my body used as a host for one of your servitors.

Your humble and obedient servant,

Submit your own plea to Cthulhu!

Name some friends or leave them blank and let me look them up myself:
I didn't have much of a chance after I hit him with a ship really did I. Somehow I don't think I'll be getting much in the way of nice presents from him this year then.

Or from this guy, if I promote this game (filched from [livejournal.com profile] docbrite, current top score 511)

But in other news, this trailer is up and looking good.

Probably about right ;)

Ok, been thinking about this for a while but have only just got up the courage to try it.

                                Story Presents for Christmas!

No, I'm not being very cheap, this is just for people reading this LJ (Family will get a stocking full of coal and pig knuckles as per usual ;>) . Some of the other LJ's I read are written by fanfic writers who produce great stories (Take a bow [livejournal.com profile] trixie_chick and [livejournal.com profile] bwinter) and so I've been inspired to try and create more stories of my own. What I'm after from you would be a quote, song lyric, verse, etc for me to hang the story on, and any other detail requests such as location or style. I'm not looking to write for any particular fandoms or known characters but if you have a particular request then make sure I know the characters (kinda helpful) amd ask away. Stories will only be short little vignettes (probably), unless I get on a roll (unlikely) when they could be any length.
I've been wanting to get back writing for a while but have lacked the impetus and ideas. Hopefully, this will provide both. For curiosities sake and to so you can know what you might be getting I'll put some old stories behind cuts for your perusal. These all have christian themes to them (what with me being a christian and all) but the requested new stories won't have unless you ask for it.

Dear Times )

Like Lightning from Heaven )
Alternative Parables: Prodigal Son )

 Hope you liked them.

I'm away for the weekend in sunny Wales, so I'll start any requests on Monday (assuming some have come in) and I'll try and get them written before Christmas at the very latest, but hopefully much before.

Oh yes, last thing. This has to be a parody site, doesn't it? Either way, this t-shirt had me in hysterics.

PSYLOCKE!!!
Holy crap! You are:
Without question the HOTTEST of the X-Men! She's a ninja, too, and wields a sword to prove it! I think she had a pretty nasty power, too, a psychic knife or something, but I was too busy wishing she were real to really pay attention. Sorry.

Hmm, could have sworn that I put in that I was male but still a good result, I've always wanted purple hair and to look hot in a leotard ;>

For all you people who just tried to picture that, I'm very, very sorry!

Your Birthdate: December 25
You excel at anything difficult or high tech. In other words, you're a total (brilliant) geek. It's difficult for you to find people worth spending time with. Which is probably why you'll take over the world with your evil robots! Your strength: Your unfailing logic Your weakness: Loving machines more than people Your power color: Tan Your power symbol: Pi Your power month: July

Hmm, disagree about the brilliant part but agree definitly with the geek, and I really like the sound of the evil robots ;>

Happy Bonfire Night to all who celebrated tonight.

Anna and I had a good evening with friends from my old church Pioneer People. Since I've moved to Chester, I've lost contact with most of my friends from there and so it was good to catch up with people again (even if it did make me feel very old meeting a lad who's just turned 16 and is about 5'8", who I remember once being nothing but a babe in arms).

First, a little amusement.

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

A focused advisor whose actions are dictated by almost pure logic, you believe in exploring the fascinating possibilities around you.
Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Spock is a character in the Star Trek universe. His biography is available at Nimoy.com. (Actually, it isn't. It just goes to one of those annoying ads link sites, but then cut and paste is as cut and paste does)

Wouldn't have said I was like him myself but then if the internet says it it must be true ;)

I really ought to update this much more regularly than I do. Because if I did, I wouldn't need to cram in that we've recently
  • been up to Edinburgh for the week, where we went to Roslyn Chapel  (made famous once again thanks to 'The Da Vinci Code')  and to an exhibition of photographs by  Henri Cartier Bresson who is the photographer that I most admire and who's work I love the most. We also met up with Anna's sister, Elspeth who's living there, and oh yes, Anna was there working at the Christian Resources Exhibition
  • had two blow-outs of tyres on Anna's car (only damage done was to the tyres, thankfully)
  • been to see 'Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-rabbit', which is an absolutely, hysterically, wonderful film which should be seen by everyone at their first opportunity (as well as their second, third and fourth)
  • also been to see Tim Burton's 'The Corpse Bride', which is a beautiful piece of stop motion animation, with a great line up of voice talent (Christopher Lee is his usual excellently scary self) and a good fairy tale story, although the songs tend to hamper the flow in places.
  • recieved my copy of 'To Charles Fort, with  love' by Caitlin.R.Kiernan from Subterranean Press. All I need to do now though is to finish Alec Guiness's biography and I can start it. Have to say that I am really enjoying the biography, even if it does seem to overstress some areas of his life (ie. his homosexuality, not a problem in itself but when it is mentioned and alluded to several times in practically every chapter then I think that the author is trying to make his point too heavy handedly) and skip past others (his work for Ealing studios is covered in a couple of paragraphs). It is encouraging to know that someone as talented as him was at times troubled with self doubt and was a very human person. It does give hope to the rest of us.
  • had numerous people round for a meal or staying with us, and this coming week we have Anna's god-daughter (and her parents) staying with us. The house has been made safe to a two and a half year old (hopefully) and my vasectomy appointment has been pencilled in for the start of November.
Also www.mediafiend.co.uk is begining to take shape. Well, we've got a couple of pages up that work (mostly) but ut's a start considering how long we've had the name. So if you want to go see the webcomics I read on a regular basis then the page is there.
