As ever my yen to post more often has fallen by the wayside. I'm back at work this week with very little of the stuff I'd meant to do while I was off done, but at least I did manage some of it.
The main cause of my post today though is to point you at Neil Gaimans Journal, to see the wonderfully surreal Youtube links he's put up after being shown them by Dave McKean. The first, "Butterfly of Love", is really surreal and freaky while the second "Tyger" is just wonderful. The third film "Rabbit" I have yet to see (for reason's see subject line) so let me know if it's worth coming back to.
Quick reviews section:
300 Spartans - good film but definitely showing its age.
300 - very good film, does exactly what it says on the can, but not quite as satisfactory as I'd hoped.
brief conclusion - there is still a great film about the Battle of Thermopylae to be made, but these two will do in the meantime.
Amazing Grace - I had expected more of a very dry, pious biopic, from this one (the kind of sunday afternoon one's) but I was very happy to be very wrong about it. The story is strong and the performances are wonderful (I loved Michael Gambon and Albert Finney's roles), all in all well worth seeing.
Oh, btw, I'm also on MySpace now although this is where I'll do my blogging and then try and mirror it there (if it's not to technical for me).
Last thing, honest! Is anyone else having problems with Firefox not letting them log into some sites? A couple of sites are just going round in a loop when I try to log in, saying that I need to log in to be able to do anything or saying I need to log in again when I already am logged in and not accepting my log in details. And to answer the immediate question, yes I am using the correct username and passwords.
Any suggestions, gratfully received.
