Yup, I am still alive and still online. It's just been one of those months that I havn't really had much to say or an inclination to say much. But I thought I'd better stick my head above the battlements just for the fun of it ;)

This was linked on Neil Gaimans website, The tale of the Sultan's Elephant, and there was nothing on the tv news about it (that I saw, anyway) even though I saw a fair bit of BBC News24 over the weekend. I couldn't have travelled to see it, even had I known in advance it was happening, but I would have been very tempted to try because it looked absolutely magical. If you can, watch the video clip from the link, the movement of the puppets is incredible.

Something that has been keeping me amused during my night shifts is this, a collection of kitchen mishaps on a cooking forum I've been recently pointed towards. It's 43 pages long so is good for dipping in and out of. Here are some examples:

absent-mindedly strain stock by placing a colander in the sink and pouring it all down the drain

Attempt to de-bone a lamb leg that is partially frozen. The numbing effect of the way-too-cold meat means that you don't, at first, realize that you are actually deboning your hand

and mine to the list is, 'quickly' check the internet while simmering kidney beans, cause it takes ages to get rid of the smell of burned kidney beans.
